Holistic Psychotherapy for Adolescents and Young Adults
As a Holistic Therapist for teens and young adults, I firmly believe that an integrated approach to therapy produces better results rather than using one method alone. My work combines evidence based techniques with a whole person perspective to support both mental and emotional well being.
I have been practicing as a psychotherapist since earning my masters degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002. In that time, my practice has evolved to focus on helping adolescents and young adults with issues of anxiety, depression, ADHD, and stress. As a teen therapist I support students for preparing for independence and success as they move into adulthood.
Therapy Certifications and Professional Memberships
Acquiring the knowledge, skills, and certifications to treat clients holistically has included becoming certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a skills based approach to improving relationships and managing emotions; Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), which incorporates mindfulness into cognitive therapy to allow clients to better identify feelings and connect them to their thoughts; and trained in EMDR therapy which is a premiere tool for trauma work.
I also obtained my Health Coaching certification from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York. Poor nutrition can directly impact many areas of an individual’s life, including their mood, energy level, and decision-making skills. My comprehensive training allows me to help clients examine their food choices while working with proven psychotherapy methods to improve their overall well-being. In addition to health coaching I am also a certified Sleep Science Coach as sleep is the foundation for all health.
A member of The National Board of Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists, I have used hypnotherapy successfully to help clients work through negative thoughts and change unwanted behaviors. In addition, I am a member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners and a proud provider of Give an Hourâ„¢, a national network of volunteer mental health professionals who donate their time and expertise to help those in need.
I am licensed in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, Vermont, and South Carolina. I work in-person with local clients in my Ramsey, New Jersey office, as well as remotely with clients outside of the Bergen County, New Jersey area, and those located in Pennsylvania, Florida, Vermont and South Carolina.
